Following a rigorous examination process in June 2026, Dr. Currie joined over 500 other dentists in the United States, Canada, and internationally who have achieved Diplomate status with the ABOI/ID. The credential recognizes demonstrated knowledge, clinical skill, and experience in oral implantology and implant dentistry.
Established in 1969, the ABOI/ID evaluates the qualifications and clinical competence of dentists who voluntarily seek board certification. To earn Diplomate status, Dr. Currie demonstrated his expertise through several years of implant dentistry practice, extensive continuing education, and a rigorous oral examination. The certification process also included reviews of complex clinical cases by an expert panel sponsored by the ABOI/ID.
The examination evaluates the in-depth knowledge, proficient skills, and clinical judgment required to provide comprehensive, safe, and effective oral implant care for the public.
An Atlanta native and Brookhaven resident, Dr. Currie graduated from the University of Georgia in 2006. He later earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry and Master of Oral Biology from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry before completing a two-year residency focused on implant dentistry and surgery at the Medical College of Georgia.
Since 2010, Dr. Currie has dedicated his clinical practice and continuing education to dental implants, implant surgery, and complex prosthetic restoration. His areas of professional focus include complex implant surgery and prosthetics, digital dentistry, bone and gum grafting, and implant esthetics.
Dr. Currie lectures nationally and internationally on implant dentistry and related subjects. He serves as the lead instructor of the Sinus Augmentation Course for Implant Pathways, a surgical education institute in Arizona, and participates as a key opinion leader and lecturer for dental technology and implant companies.
In addition to his Diplomate status with the ABOI/ID, Dr. Currie is a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. He is also a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Dental Association.
