Yvette Hitchens of The MH Trainer Earns REEA Gold Standard Instructor Certification

The Real Estate Educators Association credential adds to the ARELLO CDEI designation already held by the California HCD-approved provider’s founder.

Knowing a subject and knowing how to teach it are two different skills, and students pay for both.”

— Yvette Hitchens, Founder, The MH Trainer

LONG BEACH, CA, UNITED STATES, August 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Yvette Hitchens, founder of The MH Trainer and a California HCD-approved education provider, has earned the Gold Standard Instructor (GSI) certification from the Real Estate Educators Association (REEA), completing the association’s Instructor Development Workshops #1, #2 and #3. The certification was awarded July 25, 2026.

REEA, founded in 1980, is the national professional society for real estate educators — instructors, trainers, regulators, education directors, schools, and authors — organized to “provide resources and opportunities for professional development to individuals and organizations involved in real estate education.” The Gold Standard Instructor certification is the association’s foundational instructor credential and the first step on its formal instructor development pathway, which continues to the Distinguished Real Estate Instructor (DREI) designation.

WHAT THE CERTIFICATION REQUIRES

The GSI credential is earned by completing three sequential Instructor Development Workshops, each building on the last:

– IDW #1 lays the foundation of interactive learning and instructor self-assessment.
– IDW #2 applies those principles in the classroom — active learning techniques, team building, timed outlines, and effective presentation design.
– IDW #3 covers current tools and technologies for keeping students engaged.

The curriculum centers on examining one’s own teaching style, understanding how different students learn, and building assessment into instruction rather than bolting it on at the end.

“Knowing a subject and knowing how to teach it are two different skills, and students pay for both,” said Yvette Hitchens, Founder of The MH Trainer. “I have spent nearly thirty years in California manufactured housing. That part I had. What REEA gave me was a harder look at how adults actually learn — and where an instructor loses a class without realizing it. Compliance education has a reputation for being something people endure. I would rather it be something they finish knowing more than when they started.”

A SECOND NATIONAL INSTRUCTOR CREDENTIAL

Hitchens already holds the Certified Distance Education Instructor (CDEI) credential from ARELLO, the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials, which certifies competency in designing and delivering online education. The REEA Gold Standard certification addresses instructional craft more broadly. Together, the two credentials cover both halves of what The MH Trainer does: courses delivered online, and courses that hold up as teaching.

WHERE THE TRAINING APPLIES

The MH Trainer (HCD-Approved Provider No. ED 1618575) develops and delivers manufactured housing education across four program lines, all taught by Hitchens:

Park Manager Training Program (PMTP) — the HCD-approved certification California requires for every mobilehome and RV park in the state, plus the two-to-four-hour continuing education required every two years thereafter.
– Preliminary Licensing Course — the HCD-approved pre-licensing education required to become a licensed California manufactured home dealer or salesperson.
– Continuing Education for Dealers and Salespersons — the HCD-required coursework licensees complete to keep their licenses current.
Certified Manufactured Home Specialist — a professional designation created, taught, and issued by The MH Trainer for real estate professionals and industry practitioners who want to serve manufactured home buyers and sellers competently. It is not a state license or an HCD requirement.

All state-required programs meet or exceed Title 25 and HCD requirements, and are delivered online and self-paced.
