Three-week deployment puts Class 8 electric truck on active freight lanes serving multiple customers.
COMPTON, CA / ACCESS Newswire / April 23, 2026 / AiLO Logistics, a freight brokerage and asset-based carrier, today announced the start of a three-week operational pilot using a Tesla Semi Class 8 electric tractor. The vehicle is running on active freight lanes, serving three customers, as AiLO evaluates the Tesla Semi in real-world conditions across its operations.
“Sustainability is built into how we operate at AiLO, not just what we talk about. Putting the Tesla Semi to work on live freight lanes is a direct extension of that commitment. We look forward to seeing what the data shows.”
Nick Cook, Chief Revenue Officer, AiLO Logistics
The Tesla Semi is a fully electric Class 8 truck rated for a gross combination weight of 82,000 lbs. It offers a range of up to 500 miles on a single charge, consumes less than 2 kWh per mile, and can recover up to 70% of its range in 30 minutes using Tesla’s Semi Chargers. Three independent motors on the rear axles deliver instant torque and maintain highway speeds on steep grades, with active safety systems included as standard.
Early real-world pilots by other logistics operators point to the potential of the platform. DHL Supply Chain reported energy consumption of 1.72 kWh per mile on a fully loaded 390-mile route, while ArcBest logged 4,494 miles over three weeks at 1.55 kWh per mile, well below Tesla’s rated threshold. Both operators cited meaningful reductions in fuel cost and emissions compared to diesel equivalents.
AiLO will track performance across energy efficiency, route reliability, and driver experience throughout the pilot. Findings will be shared at the close of the deployment window.
